i took the first part of the class today and i go back tomorrow from 8-5 and finish it up then.

my family has a 200cc vespa that ill be taking to school w me in the fall for cheap transportation in addition to my car, but my mom suggested looking into a motorcycle if i enjoy the class enough.

i was thinking about trying to get a ~04 suzuki gsxr 600... what do you guys think? i wouldn't want to spend more than like 4500, do you think thats possible?

i don't know much about bikes but i want something FAST! i'm open to all suggestions

you will be dead on a 600....go for a 250 to begin with sport bikes

if you get a cruiser, then a 600 would be fine

first bike, going through a class, and yet you want something fast? not a great combination.

suzuki bandit would make a good firstt ride, a friend just bought a star 650 classic and passed his test on it. something along those lines is where you should be looking. get a season or two under your belt ( or if your local state police offer it, an advanced course) then look at the rockets.

but don't listen to me (or anyone else in this thread talking good sense, like most above me) i've only been riding longer then the majority here as been alive, lol.

did i not say i was looking for suggestions? lawl

i dont remember what my buddies bike model was, but when he first got his license he picked up an 07 suzuki 650, but it wasnt the GSX-R. Anyways, he let me ride it (i have experience on ATV's and dirtbikes, butnot streetbikes) and it was great. Not too zippy, but not slow either. i wouldnt advise jumping straight on a GSXR as your first bike tho, those things dont mess around

19 years on pavement, 6 more years in the dirt. i'm 36.

954runner...i was being a bit sarcastic, i know. it's the nature of this forum. but pounding the pavement on two wheels is a different world. i'm glad you're entertaining suggestions, but your original post lead one to believe that you have your mind made up on a rocket. and with you being new to street (no blue hairs in cages on the dirt), it's not a great place to learn that a bike capable of 150+mph isn't the bike for a beginner. be safe and be smart. like i mentioned beforem the bandit is a cousin of the gsx'r and katana line. sporty, respectably quick and fast, it'll remind more of a ducati monster in the looks department, but won't embaress you in front of the boys. it's great first scoot.
