eliminating those entry level brands will be less work for the people in charge of the database, as well as take less server space. I think we should put the rated specs in the database from "respectable companies" which mostly takes away the BS ratings altogether.I understand the desire to keep out the moronic reviews of bargain-basement gear (Legacy, Boss, etc) such as we have all seen on SoundDomain and the like where someone claims their four 12" Boss subs on some Logic Soundlabs amplifier was breaking windows and getting the cops in the next county called out...
But why exactly are you eliminating them from the database entirely? I understand that none of the forum regulars and few, if any, of the unaccounted-for lurkers would buy and/or use any of that garbage. But! There's obviously a market for it or it wouldn't exist. Shoot we've got a Petro truckstop on the west side of town that can get ya any kind of Boss gear ya want! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Additionally if we were to create a source of actual specifications for people to peruse they might begin to understand what they can and cannot reasonably expect that "2000 Watt" amplifier to do for them.
First, i think it is a grand idea, but I think if it's going to be a database then it needs to be just that, and needs to be all inclusive.
There should not be any reviews I don't think, because as stated people are always bias, and you cannot expect anyone to monitor the reviews to delete worthless ones...plus, who gets the authority to say something is worthless?
No brand should be excluded either. All brands that we can find information on should be in the database, so that people can compare everything they want to. A limited selection would be a mediocre site that could be thrown together tomorrow afternoon by a few of us.
yea that is exactly what i am aiming towardsNow, with that said, if we could create a database that has the parameters including but not limited to year, model, t/s, reccomended box sizes, etc. I think it would be absolutely fantastic. It would take a very long time to do, but would provide much needed information.
Other issue with this is that it would need to be updated regularly as new equipment becomes available (i.e. this time of year).
ygpm my friend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifI would be willing to donate the webspace to this project, everything on the technical side you would want, including databases, etc
Would be nice to have another programmer to work with though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
