I agree wholeheartedly.

The current impression I personally get is that this is basically going to be a review database with pics, and that the website itself is just going to be a way of quickly getting to that info.

I feel we should keep the front end as simple as possible while we're at it. Very few images (if any), a global CSS file, and no [complicated] tables. Just a horizontal rule here or there, and maybe sans-serif font or logo image where it's needed. If a lot of people are working on this, the last thing we need is a barrysworld style website to have to maintain in the meanwhile.

i think like a group of people should do it, learn how the database works, and moderate it. this will be too much for 1 person.

Dont know if this was said, i'm a little late to this thread

But if the admin interface is real simple, won't really need to know DB stuff.

Could just be like Uploading, and dumping specs into a form.

I think it would do good enough standalone. ROE is big, but not that big to where it would warrant it.

is there an offical name for this venture, i know basic html code, and i think i am getting a little handy when it comes to graffic design (slowly teaching my self) so if you needed banners or something made up i can do that.

i want this database to ONLY allow the admin to upload specs and pictures. if we have anybody and everybody doin it, then that wont be very good. If someone wants pix or stats put up, they will have to contact a volunteer to upload the info onto the website.

omarvelous, if its as easy as you say it is, im in then hehe. we should all make a chat or something to plan all this stuff out.

What if reviews are sent to mods for review then looked over and posted if they actually pertain to the product. That way the idiots dont start posting garbage.

Hopefully flakko lets me code someones PSD file, I only stick to web standards... no tables unless they're needed. As long as I have a little bit of power in this project it won't be shitty looking, or run shittily.

I've been through my fair share of undertakings like these. They almost always end up being abandoned- either half finished or finished and left after the makers see how much maintenance their "one admin" site needed every day. Hence I sugguested a totally open and virtually maintenance-free design.
