Anyone see a problem with me getting this computer?

I just showed it for a budget setup, never said it would be for hardcore gaming, never said it would compete with the previously posted computer, I actually said it wouldn't. Just wanted to show some money saving options, since it doesn't seem like he'll do any hard core gaming, or professional quality video/music editing (no offense to OP.)
Would work great, for audio/video editing, surfing web, gaming, any thing for everyday use.
Shrug ...

Funny how every Dell, HP, Acer, and Cisnet computer I've opened in the last 3 years has used a mATX or BTX motherboard usually made by Asus or ECS ...

They must do it different north of the border.....EHH?

Front panel connectors are usually different. Proprietary connectors for things like card readers and such.

Just because the motherboard is made from a standard mfg, it doesn't mean it's a standard board. They commission the companies to design/build the boards to their specs.

the specs on that computer are okay, I guess. that is a bit pricey. I don't like vista one bit and feel like I have to spend 2 weeks to customize it to even be useable. They tried to make it idiot proof but just made it annoying.

As far as the whole memory thing is, for XP, it IS 4 GB, but that also includes other RAM in the computer which will include your video RAM. At this point, it won't use anything more than 3 GB. That is unless you go to 64 bit. The same holds true for vista.

Anyways, your best bet REALLY is to build your own. It will be cheaper and it's almost impossible to screw up these days. You can order all your parts through newegg and just have a project out of it. This way you know what you are getting and if something goes wrong, you know how to fix it.

I'm pretty sure XP's cap is 2, but maybe you're right about the 3... I know that the cap on vista is 4 though, so even then you STILL couldn't use all 8

I don't disagree that they're made to mfgr specs with custom BIOSes (except Cisnet uses actual off-the-shelf parts you can get from any part retailer like Newegg), but they're all standard connections, sizes, and mounts in my experience. That said, I've never run into a case where I've had to replace a card reader, so I may have overlooked that.
