Anyone know anything about exotic birds?

why a cockatoo?

i don't know much, but i looked into getting a bird for a while, and i feel like some kind of Conure seemed like the best all around bird for some reason. let me see if i can find the site that explained what birds are good for what..

search google for "what kind of pet bird should i get" there's plenty of websites telling what birds are good for what reasons. how social they are, how good they are are speaking and singing, how fast they learn, stuff like that.

My wifae had a Sun Conure for awhile. It liked attention and was loud when it chirped, but other than that it was very personable and even liked to sleep with her in the mornings. Her Mom has a African Gray and it's cool because it talks well and picks up on words but it is a lot bigger. It likes her a lot but isn't the friendliest to really anyone else, very single person dominant.

Yea, we had a pair of Sun Conures 2 years ago, they were ok, mainly eye candy. We are looking more toward the cockatoo for the fact she wants a snuggle bird and it is probably the best for that. I personally want a Macaw, I know a few breeders and can get blue and gold babies for around $1000. I know the cockatoo is the smartest and has to have something to do all the time, and you're right, LOVE ATTENTION. African Greys are ok, but they just don't float my boat. If I had the money I would grab a Black Pal cockatoo or Hycinth Macaw, but I don't have over 10K to spend on a bird.
