Anyone see a problem with me getting this computer?

Then you're an anomaly.
And your HD has nothing to do with your system running fine, that's how fast your processor is and the RPM of your hard drive, try again.

then why has my old computers ran extremely slow when my HD's were close to full? then when i cleared up HD space they ran fine.

I don't mind Vista I never understood why so many people hate it
It's mostly from hear-say from the people that used the first Vista RC's. Which were a pain in the ***, but the 'final' version that came out is perfectly fine, if you're running a computer to spec.

right here..
****, Firefox didn't find that when I used the Find function. I do have to say, you're running a Mac, so of course it's going to be better than a Windows PC. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

That is your assumption. And it's misinformed.

A hard drive has a big impact on the efficiency of your system. A faster/bigger hard drive retrieves data more quickly, resulting in faster load times. A hard drive that is close to maximum capacity quickly becomes fragmented, and you'll notice your system lagging behind as a result. Hard drives that are completely full can cause erratic system performance.

Also, if you have a system-managed or dynamic page file, there may not be enough spare space on the drive for the OS to properly utilize for your page file and virtual memory, negatively affecting performance. This issue is especially compounded if you have a highly-fragmented drive, but you have to run very, very low on hard drive space for it to be a major concern.

This is true. Although with 8GB of RAM and 1TB of hard drive space I doubt he will ever run into this problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

With that amount of RAM I doubt you would, but hard drive space is easily filled these days. I have over 4TB of worthless crap that I am going through at the moment. So far, I have cleared 1.5TB of just documents, and duplicate pictures...

Because of your...

PROCESSOR
k no need to be a dick. never claimed to be a computer genius like ur claiming to be. i know what mine does, how to fix minor problems but not a genius. i just know that i worried like hell for a week before i bought my laptop cause everyone told me how terrible vista was and how slow it would run. when i got it, it was completely the opposite. it runs great with zero issues.

2gb of ram and its great. just seems vistas problems were created by everyone doing the "cool" thing by complaining about it. and im sure the hilarious PC vs. Mac commercials helped haha

yeah, i thought 250gb HD would be more than enough but it filled up in a couple months haha. my pack rat tendencies have carried over to my computer!

Good god. I don't even see how that's possible. My hard drives are fuller now than they ever have been before... at 200GB.

Also, Vista can be tweaked rather easily. You can turn off a lot of useless services and security features that require a lot of memory, and turn it into a relatively efficient OS. I've been using it for over a year and have no problems with it. I like it just as much as I liked XP.

I should have never discovered what torrents were. I download more worthless shit than anything. Pictures are my main problem, because I'll put them on the drive, and my girlfriend will too, without me knowing, and it goes and goes. There is also a lot of home videos of my daughter that I haven't converted, so they take quite a bit of space.
