Anyone let Best Buy/Circuit City install their system?

I wouldn't trust others to install on my vehicle, except a very few //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Think they really care if they break something and it can easily be hidden?

All of that stuff that you said would be easy to install yourself if you have a garage and some time.

well, if i were you and you arent that confident, i would make SURE that they run NEW LINES through the doors to your speakers, STAY there the WHOLE time and watch them install everything. make sure they dont scratch anything, look over your car 100% before you get them to work on it, and get a freaking carwash. because if they scratch\damage your car, you will be able to tell right away.

also go over the interior of your car too - the panels they will be removing (doors and all that) make sure they arent loose, and make sure they know that too. test and check all your stuff before you leave the place - and go over your gain controlls onf your amps before you leave too.

just some good advice

INstalling yourself is not hard. Not at all, but of course that also could depend on what car your driving. My friend had a 2002 civic and there are panels all over the place. Asked best buy how to install the HU me-self and they told me what panels and bolts to take out. The tricky part is the wiring. Its not that hard, just run your wire for one unit at a time. (unit = amp, comp speakers). All you need for radio is a wiring kit that is made specifically for you car, and its merely going to home depot and getting some wire connectors, and well, wiring it up. If your going to spend some money make sure what your getting into and just hang around this forum more, use the search button and youll be comfortable enough to do it yourself. Plus your not going to make a serious mistake if you follow what people on here will tell you. a good weekend project. Satisfaction of installing all your own shit is even better because your car is truly your *****...

Here is what I am getting installed:-JVC Head Unit (comes with the dash kit I need to put in)

-Pair of front speakers

-2-channel amp connected to the front speakers (Profile)

-1 12" Alpine Type R Sub

-Directed Audio 1500D connected to the Sub

I live in Great Falls, VA so I would be heading to the Tysons Circuit City or the Reston Best Buy.

The main reason I am concerned with doing it myself is what if I mess it up somehow? I wont know how to correct it and will be out of luck, whereas I can get someone to do it for me and if it is messed up, I can take it back for a reinstillation (sp?).

I am 30 minutes from the Tweeter in Falls Church btw.
Do yourself a favor. IF...you do decide to have it installed by CC (my recommendation)...have all your wiring ready. You'll need AT LEAST 4awg, I'd recommend 2awg back to a distro. http://www.knukonceptz.com Let me know if you want more details...

But at CC, you'd be looking at...

~$48 for CD player

~$35 for front speakers

~$60 for 2ch Amp

~$65 for sub amp

So ~$210...for just ****ing installation...

F-THAT! lol...

Personally, I'd do it for around $100 cash myself...but you're not near me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I installed all of my stuff myself without a problem on the first time, with the exception of a friend showing me how to wire my first DVC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I got systems put in two different cars of mine. I had Best Buy put one in and Circuit City put the other one in. Best Buy ripped me off so much with the price. Circuit City put my system in for a good price but my subs blew within a weak and when i brought it back to them they said they were cheap subs. Between you and me they were not cheap subs and they were only about a month old too. i would suggest going to a local import store, i think, they do the best work.

Ported tuned to 32 hz. Why?

Are there tutorials online on how to install everything? I have never wired anything in my life, nor torn my car apart.

Well I just bought my first sound system and need to get it installed. I dont feel confident about installing the products I have myself and was wondering if anyone here had had any experience with Best Buy or Circuit City installing their systems?
Thanks.

With BB or CC its going to be hit or miss... I know I work for CC here in sarasota, FL at store 3203. Everything I do IS top notch as you are only as good as your worst install. However 95% of the installers do NOT share my over zealousness for a perfect install....

Be sure to ask around and take a look at some of their previous work. I know I have plenty of pictures of the installs that I have worked on, as ell as those of my custom work....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Actually, Crutchfield has videos for installing a Head Unit and Speakers, and they dont look hard at all to install, I just have to get all the tools (Crimping set?).

The amp and sub install is gonna be a different story since they dont have videos for those.
