the best way i have found to do it is take one piece and wrap all four sides of the box with. on the bottom use a staple gun and use 3m spray adhesive for everything else. on the uncovered sides take 1/8'' board and cut that and wrap it and put it on the side like in this picture you can see

This is the first box I used vinyl on, so the edges are pretty crappy. The box overall looks pretty good. You can see I also put vinyl on the amp rack.

If you put a little thought into where the seams end up, you can make a great looking box. I used 3M Super-70 spray adhesive.

If you have done it a couple times you can get the seams to disappear praticaly. You need to overlap the pieces and cut them together. But this does take some time and skill to make it look good!I do this on fiberglass boxes where the contours can be challenging.

The best place to buy vinyl is at a fabric shop. Not the Rag Shop, but a real fabric place. The fabric is 54" wide and you can buy as many yards as needed. Great selection of colors and tectures. About $15 - $20 a yard.

I just went through a box build and the vinyl would have worked except the face of the box was not flat. My friends dad is a cabinet maker and he went a little overboard with the edges and he built in a raised JL logo section in the face. Well, it all went well until we tried to get it to fit around all the edges. Even with mad stretching and a heat gun!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

After spending an hour, we backed up and used fabric...much easier;)

If you build a box with a flat surface the vinyl should work like a dream. Probably look a lot better than fabric, too.

Do NOT use the enviromentally safe contact cement (green). I bought a gallon of it at Home Depot and it does not have the sticking power to hold fabric to wood. Stick with the red can or even better go with the 3M spray.

Good luck:cool:

I like the look and the simplicity of that! Nice tip, thanks.
