Anybody have a new Chevy Avalanch?

i wouldnt reccomend getting a avalanche if a system is important to you. Unless you have a lot of mone to spend on your system you should definitely choose another vehicle. There is not any place to put anything bigger than a 10 without keeping the seats down or making the spot behind the seat unable to be used.

If you are going to need the seats down because you are hauling cargo all the time or whatever....I would just do a head unit, 6.5" components up front in kick panels, and maybe a shallow mount midbass driver or some 2 ways in the back doors(doubt an 8" sub would fit under the seats, we tried, and failed horribly that day)

Anyways, what we ended up doing was putting 2 15's in the bed...ready to be easily removed. It's still pretty loud inside...but it could be better.

All in all, I advise you against the Avalanche - dont get me wrong, its a very nice vehicle - but, for a system, you might want to look into just an extended cab pickup(assuming you want a bed on your truck) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ok. Thanks for the help guys.

I test drove a new 2002 Trailblazer last night. I liked it alot, and its a very good possibility I might get that. I was planning on getting 2 12" L7 Kicker Solo Baric's for the vehicle I got but since the trailblazer is a lil smaller, wouldnt 1 15" L7 Solo Baric do just fine? What do you guys think? I have 1,500 to spend.

Yes, 1 15" L7 would be fine. What are you looking for? All out boom or do you want it to sound good? Or a mix of both? Do a split...SPL/SQ out of 100.

For $1500, you can walk out of here with a very nice system... ( amp((s)) / sub((s)) )

- Steve:)

I spent about $1500 total on my sub set-up. I have two 12" Alpine Type R's in a prefab box, two Alpine V12 MRD-M300s giving each sub 300W RMS at a 2 ohm load. Each amp maxes at around 600W I think. I also bought a remote bass knob to synchronize my amps' gains. That way I can turn the bass down if girls wanna ride in my car. It's a very nice touch. My bass is quite powerful, yet clear. If you're willing to spend that much, I would recommend a similar set-up. If you don't like Alpine, then maybe there's another brand that has a set-up that parallels the one I have.

And as for your friends hearing you when you're coming, I don't have a problem with that. Also, all of this is in my 93 Explorer XLT, if that gives you some size perspective, since you might get a blazer.

Anyways, that's my rookie recommendation.

I would rather have the Avalanche but the only way I would get one is I have to find a way to put a nice system in it. Does anybody have any ideas? Or know of anyone that has a system in their avalanche?

How good did the 2 15's sound in the bed of it? Was the SPL quality very good?

It was still pretty loud...I mean you have to take into consideration that there is no canopy on the truck. It's loud when the glass is off also...in the summer we just turned the box around and folded the seats down...then it was really loud.
