Any using or used Shallow mount subs?

Can you solve it?
I see lots of companies have the shallow mount subs now. Has anyone used them?

Thoughts on these? I'm going to be needing more of my trunk space in the future and I don't want to sacrifice my sub stage for this. My thought is to get some shallow mounts. Do they perform well? What can I expect to get out of them? Edit: Obviously I know that install and brand will make a difference. So I am asking that as well. What type of box and what brands are doing well? Small sealed would be great for me. I'm thinking that I could go 3 or 4 10's (more likely 3) with the amount of space these things need.

Thanks!

whats ur depth? Kicker CVTs dont get very deep. I am told the pioneer shallow is the better. Also the RF shallow isnt bad. BUT....there's a couple subs that arent shallow type, but the basket/motor isnt deep.

JBL GTO 15....only 5" deep. The smaller subs are less.

Wow, good to know on the JBL's. I will have to look into those. I'm not really stuck with a certain depth, this is a trunk install. But I'm going to have a kid in about 7 months and I'll need more room than I currently have.

I have heard 2 of the Pioneer shallow mount subs and I was actually impressed. Was in a Dodge Dakota truck though.

I have a Kicker CVX in a 1.5cft box sealed and sounds dam good. Imagine I am close to 140 dbs with it and actually like it better than my Fi Q in same box and when I first put the CVX in, same amp. Now I have a different amp, which is smaller and even happier now.

I also have a 9 month old baby and I can fit her stroller back there and all the diaper bags and quiet a few other things back there.

Maybe wait till the new Mag comes out. They can use a 1.2cft box and recommed sealed and I am not sure on depth, but I can't wait as I will go smaller.

Good luck and congrads on the Kid, I didn't know your woman was pregnant. Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Sounds like they are the real deal. My concern was that I was going to lose some quality in order to make some room.

Yeah I'm gonna be a daddy *crosses his fingers*. Still early on.

1 ft^3 actually. Or 0.8 ft^3 with 1 lb of polyfill.

Mounting depth is 5.5" on the new Mag, so with 3/4" material you're looking at an internal box depth of 5.25 inches which allows enough room behind the pole vent. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

PS: The new BM's are sexy and are only 3.5" deep. With 13mm one-way Xmax and all the bells and whistles I've put into them, they're going to be a formidable foe in the shallow subwoofer market. They're a phenomenal solution to the ultra-tiny, high performance, subwoofer category.

PSPS: The new BM's baskets are candy apple red. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Wow, nice!

Cancel that *edit* I found it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Those do look SEXY.

I use 2 of the Pioneer 10's in my truck.. They sound nice, not insane loud, but do a great job for the intended listeners in the vehicle. Listen to a lot of rock and was pretty happy with them. THEN I popped in some old rap (Too Short) and was pleasently suprised on the output I got from them.
Build log:

Thanks!! And you probably missed it because of the title I gave it. Most builds here are pretty over the top when it comes to the bass. I just wanted good overall sound so I went conservative //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
