man i hate hearing about job cuts and how the economy is doing...
makes me feel like im going to school for nothing, but maybe my employment chances are a little better than most of yall since i live in TX...who knows
anyways im going to ITT Tech(someone tell me if and why thats a bad thing) and for me its electronics eng, not electrical eng, what ive heard its not the same thing. but the fundamentals are the same, Ohms/Kirchoffs Laws n stuff like that, i love playing with the O'scope,DMM,power supply, breadboard all that, and they sold me a working scope for ten bucks
im in 7quarter, gonna graduate in march with a AAS, got one certification, level1 from ISCET, basically covered DC, theres 3 more levels, AC then Devices then Digital, you need a 80 or above to get certs from them
some of the classes ive taken:
AC
DC
Networking
Electronic Devices
Digital Electronics
Communication Systems
microProcessors
still need Control Systems
some good news :
i was on Yahoo the other day and saw that my degree could earn me $25/hr...
they said the average pay rate in 08 for electronic techs with associates was 25.95, i know im more than likely not gonna start off there but its a goal,
also there is always companies comin by the school, my instructor told me that my school's employment rate for my course was like 90 something percent, i hope im not in that few percent, and im pretty sure im not, im always helping everybody, i get to far ahead and then help others catch up...
A big company that always comes by is Schlumberger, when i first started they sent out a flyer saying if hired on, we could get 70k/year on the spot, but they were only looking for ones about to graduate and i still had a year left.
