another goliath up in smoke...

In a word no that isnt enough electricity. When your lights are dimming it means the amp is seeing low voltage which in turn puts a real strain on the power supply.

Wow, I was just about to transfer money to Paypal to buy one of these! I'm really glade I found all these recent threads about them crapping out on people. I ran my BX2005D for almost 2 years at 2ohms with zero problems, so I don't really think it's Hifonics in general. I think it might be something with the Goliath. Now I'm pissed, I don't think your gonna find anything else brand new that puts out 5K for around $800. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Why bother when PayPal can pull funds directly out of whatever account is linked to it when making a PayPal purchase as opposed to waiting 2-4 days for those same funds to transfer out of your bank into the PayPal account?

Seems like a wasted step and a waste of time to me but to each their own, I suppose.

HiFonics simply isn't what it used to be. Sorry to hear about your troubles, darren. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

you could get two ma hk4000d's or two orion 2500d's

ive been running tha same old hifonics zeus xi for years now and it has been so good to me. yea, i push it sometimes and beat on it until it gets extremely hot and goes into protect. but all i do it flip my remote switch off for second and back on and she keeps on kick'n. every since maxxonics took over hifonics they have been crap. there just not like tha api's....

this is another reason i PREFER used equipment, if its been running for a year or so without problems, and the seller is a stand up person, its probable that the item will work for at least another 2 years if used correctly.

lots of good high power amps from 2005 out there 4 cheap.

i feel your pain tho, waiting for a big company to take care of an issue is like watching a plank warp............painfully slow.

never had a problem with my Hercules. I owned 3 of them and ran two at .5, none had problems. Also, i had a bxi1606 and a bxi2006 and i wired the bxi2006 @ .5, and it never went into protect. I don't see why soo many people are having problems with Hifonics.

All these amps were ran off the same alternator (140amp),redtop upfront, yellowtop in the trunk, and big 3.....

It's that people just dont have the voltage needed for these amps. They're power hogs and they need a large electrical system to support them.

Besides that, they're great for the money.

i was just looking into a 1206d/1606d...havent decided yet...was gonna purchase off of ebay though for 215-250 depending on which one i got.....should i skip it now though? are the brutus' known to blow as much as these goliath's are? i have a stock batt and stock alt.....i also have a nine.2x runnin on my system at the same time. i might be able to pick up a nine.1 if need be...but i didnt really want to spend more than 250 on the amp. its goin to a tc sounds tc 3k...
