Amps

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the best way would be to do this install so that i can get the best possible sound QUALITY out of it, I want it to be loud and nice deep low bass, but with good quality.

This is what I want to run:

Panasonic Head Unit with FIVE, 5V Pre-outs

- 2 AUX IN

- 1 FRONT

- 1 REAR

- 1 SUBWOOFER

4 Channel Alpine amp, older amp, about 10 years old, its 50 X 4 RMS, I want to use this to run my 6 x 9's and 3.5's up front, both fo which are JL Audio, I can select LP, HP, or off.

E1200 JL Audio amp, 1 X 275 RMS, bridged inside, it can run 2 subs, but its class AB Full Range amp, to power 2 JL Audio W1's in a custom made enclosure from JL.

What is the best way to do this? I have one power wire running to the trunk that can handle up to 800 Watts of power, Can I run that wire to one amp, then use another wire to run from that amp, to the positive terminal on the other amp, ground both amps in the same spot, and use the same remote wire for both amps? Basically just distrubuting it all. It shouldnt rob much power I wouldnt think seeing as between both amps, the most I would ever demand out of the setup is 475 watts.

Also what abotu RCA's? Do I have to run a pair of RCA cables for the REAR RCA outputs on my deck and a pair for the FRONT RCA outputs on my deck, run these to my alpine amp and put them in the corresponding spots?? Thanks!

For a decent SQ system try this-

Your gonna want a good strong front stage to start with-

Get a pair of quality component speakers or at least a good set of coaxials and have them installed in custom made fiberglass kicks in the foot wells or custom mount them in the front doors, the 3.5's in the dash simply won't cut it don't bother with them at all.

Rear fill-

Don't bother wasting money on a pair of fancy 6x9's for the back, you want the sound in front of you not behind. Just leave the factory holes open, it will let the bass flow easier into the cabin of the vehicle. Your rear seat passengers will appreciate this as well because they won't have a speaker blaring right beside their ear, instead they will enjoy the proper stereo front stage sound.

Subs-

Plop the box in your trunk with the subs facing you when you open the trunk, it looks nice and acoustically sounds better (something to with cancellation, long story.)

Powering the front stage with a four channel amp-

Bridge channels A and make them the Right side channel then bridge channel B and make that the left side channel. To get the proper RCA signal just run a regular set of RCA's from the front output on the deck back to the amp and use a simple RCA splitter on each channel, channel A would get the right RCA plug while channel B would get the left, although I think you could just plug the the two sides into each channel with out the splitters and get the same result as its just a mono signal going into each side anyway. Doing all this will change your amp from 50 watts x4 to around 150 watts x2 for the best possible output from your front speakers.

Power wires, RCA's, hooking it up-

-For RCA's we need 2 pairs, one for the sub output and one for the front output, the rear is not being used.

-If the remote turn on wire is already run just hook it to one amp then loop it to the next.

-You said you already have a power wire ran, hopefully you have a power wire that is at least an 8 gauge(I would prefer 4 gauge) to run these two amps a good thick power wire ensures optimum amplifier performance (as well as ground). to connect this wire to your amps do not loop the wire from one amp to the next instead use a distribution block. Secure the main wire into the distribution block then run the smaller wires from the multiple output to the two separate amps, the one I'm thinking of is a 4gauge in with 4 8 gauge out I'm pretty sure you can get them at Wal-Mart pretty cheap.

For a main fuse at the battery a 60 amp should do fine for those two amps, this is assuming you haven't used a crappy 12 gauge wire for power, if you did the 60 amp fuse would exceed the thermal rating of the power wire if ran from engine bay to trunk (power wire capacity is directly related to length).

-Ground both amps with a wire the same size as their power wire to a spot on the vehicle chassis, be sure to scrape off any paint on the grounding spot to ensure a good connection, ground both amps at the same spot.

-Connect a ground wire from your battery's negative terminal and connect it to the fender/chassis of the vehicle, use a wire the same thickness as your main power wire, remember to scrape off the paint at the connecting point for a good connection (this ensures the amps grounds have a good path back to the battery).

Umm, thats all I can think of right now.

That SK for your location is that short for Saskatchewan?, I'm from there.

Ok here is my concerns, feel free to correct me I am a little new to this, I have done alot of installs and custom work but thats all.

I am not 100% sure there is even a place here that makes custom enclosures for components. Making it out of fibreglass would probably cost a ton of money and my door panels have no room to fit components in them anywhere, the way the door panel is designed. if you have components in the foot wells, then wouldnt the sound stay mostly on the lower half of the vehicle where a persons ears are not, even if the speaker is pointed upward?? Also people sitting in the back would only get boomed out by bass, not? The only speakers that play the music are up front, and with 2 people sitting up there, the sound waes are being blocked by the people and the seats, so they would only hear the bass. I dont know about firing the subs to the back of the vehicle, I havent ever tried it. I understand your wiring because it is onnly for 2 speakers not 4 anymore. I understand about the distrubtion block and wiring the amps, did a buddies car the exact same way.

It is 8 gauge in there right now I think, the wire can support 700 watts so I figured even with both amps running PEAK I wouldnt even pass 6, so I didnt plan on doing an additional ground to the chassis or anything. I always scrape the paints off of my grounds until its raw metal.

If I did do it the old way with 3.5 up front and 6 x 9 in the back, would it be smarter to run a pair of RCA's from the deck to the 4 channel amp for the REAR, and a pair of RCA's to the 4 channel for the FRONTS?

Yes I do live in Saskatchewan.

distro block from the main power cable. Connect the amps to the distro block.

Ground them at the same spot or a different spot, shouldnt matter

You will need to run another set of rca's to the rear, front and sub if you already havent.
