Amplifier Mounting

Not a wives tale at all that vibration kills electronics. Remember all the CT sounds/Audio Technix amps that were dying from vibration cause they didn't have enough mounts on the boards causing them to flex and break. Vibration can cause fatigue in solder joints that can end up breaking.
It is a wives tale if the only evidence could be coincidental. I agree that vibration is bad for everything except women, but that doesn't mean you should factor it into amp location.

Two questions:
1) was every amp that failed mounted on the subwoofer enclosure?
2) how can anyone prove that those amps would not have failed if mounted elsewhere?

I'm not familiar with those amps, but I assume they were poorly made if it was limited to specific manufacturers.
