Amplifier Choices

Hope OP has at least another 1000$ budgeted for electrical upgrades if he is planning on buying a 1000$ amp.
Already have runs of 0 Gauge KNU OFC from the alternator/alt ground to the batteries in the back. Picking up a DC Power XP270 and adding a second group 34 AGM to the trunk. May go with XS Power, or an equivalent.

The SCV-4000D at .5Ohm is enough to overdrive the Z until its gone, and then work well with an NSv3 if I decide to keep everything. Have you seen the amps from AA (Ampere Audio)? They've got a 5K for the same price as Sundowns 4K, but it lacks internal cooling and has got to be less efficient. And a 5K at .5ohm is ludicrous overkill for a Z series

OK, if you have electrical to run 8K. Just throwing it out there.

A friend of mine local uses Ampere amps and hasn't had any complaints. Those Far East amps are all pretty much the same. They're a rather old class D circuit with only slight variations in layout and components. For practical purposes the only thing that'll set them apart is which company will be around to stand behind them. The big boys like Sundown, Incriminator, or DD are a much more certain bet. Every year there's as many of the new brands disappear as come along.

Not saying Ampere is good or bad, but if they get a half a million dollars worth of dud amps from their Korean sweatshop they're sunk. A bigger company would have the clout to either make the buildhouse make good or be able to absorb the loss. Problems with being burned by Asian factories are somewhat common.

The Brazilians at least manufacture themselves and for the most part you know what you're getting. I've had good luck with them but IMO any amp over 5K size should be considered a time bomb.

You've got really good points, and good info, thanks for posting man. As for the 8K, the box is about 3.75CuFt^ after woofer displacement, and port area is relatively small so I should have plenty of box rise to keep it above 1ohm even with it being wired at .5 Hopefully everything works out when this deployments over and ill post some updates with the amp
