amp wont turn on

i jsut got my sub amp and jsut watned to test it out and the used subs i bought today to ensure they were working. I accidentally crossed power and ground and of course didnt think of disconnecting battery. Plugged evreything in correctly and it isnt turning on. Did i short a fuse by crossing them? and am i going to have to replace fuse or what now?

yes, at a minimum you blew a fuse - ether on the amp or at the battery (on amp power wire). depending on the amp, it may be damaged.

what did you use for a remote turn on? how did you make your ground connection?

yeah i would check the power fuse. it probably needs to be replaced.

make sure to disconnect your battery next time.

Let's hope it was a decent amp that was fused properly and that's all you blew. Otherwise you might be buying a new amp.

it was a hifonics bruts 1210D and im going to check the fuse. I touched the B+ and ground BEFORE i wire to amp, and were previously unattached so is it more likely i jsut blew a fuse?(hoping for best, easy replace) I'm running 1/0 gauge to a fused distributor so im hoping i just blew one fuse at distributor block since i crossed them when they were unplugged from amp. :-/ ill look at fuses and see if theyre split or try replacing them and see if it works. It'd be a shame since its a brand new amp!

fourth of july wouldnt have been good this time of year lol ill check them tonight and get back on here hopefully with good news that i just blew a fuse or 2.

I swear everytime you think your done something goes wrong or you find out somethings missing.

uhg i looked at the fuses on the distributor block and as far as i could tell they wernt snapped and i took them out of the block and looked at them. Could the main power fuse have blown instead of distributor block? I disconnected it this time adn wired it to another amp i had and it wouldnt power it so im pretty sure soemthing is wrong in the fuses or power cable because my car is still getting power so i couldnt have shorted entire thing. The problem is hiding somewhere between the battery and the end of the wire. And ideas?

if you can, find someone who can help you.

use a DMM to measure voltage at the fuse holders and at the distribution, and at the amp terminals. verify voltage at the amp battery and remote.

UPDATE

looked at all fuses and there didnt seem to be a crack in any of them. Replaced the fuses in distribution block and checked with a meter. THough unsure if i was using meter right i did get a reading on power switch so there has to be current going through the wire. But its still not getting to amp and the amp wont turn on. By all means i know it should be turning on."

Could it be too low current or low voltage? i really dont know whats wrong so all input is appreciated. No fuses look blown, even in amp, but amp not getting power and turning on.

those amps are bullshit, i bought one and it turned on but it wouldnt work. I even had a top of the line stereo shop verify it was the piece of shit amp.

Name of "Top of the line stereo shop"? I bet you fried the amp because you touched the remote terminal shorting out that , I think that part of the circuit board would fry before a 300amp fuse would get popped. It might be an easy fix. ALWAYS disconnect the battery and tripple check y our wires before you power up...

i shouldnt have fried anything on the amp though should i? nothing was hooked up when they crossed.

I replaced all the fuses and no change. Can't figure out why the hell it wont even turn on.
