Amp wiring question....

I bought this kit:http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3935_Kicker+PKD1.html#

The fuse holder isn't attached, and I'm wondering where the hell it goes. Do I have to cut the cable with the gray sheath, splice it into the amp holder, and then splice the other end in? I am a tad confused so if you guys have a bit of insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
No insight needed, fella.

You've already got the answer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Holy crap, you just spent an excessive amount of money on that wiring for no reason. Yes, you cut the coat off of the two sides in order to put it into the fuse holder. Think about, if you were to insert the wire straight in the fuse holder without stripping the coating, how would your wire ever see power? Also, I would not suggest that you do this install by yourself, as you have tossed up red flags everywhere.

I figured as much... last amp kit I had a small lead wire unsheathed, so I just spliced the amp wire in and used the second amp wire to run to the trunk.

Thanks.

A) We don't know if sonic is where he bought it or if he's just linking to that to show us the specific product rather than the actual source...

B) If he did pay that much then obviously he was willing to. If the kit does what he wants it to then he's gotten his money's worth. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But if he did order it from them and has opened it yet, maybe he can send it back for a refund and pay like $15-25 for restock, order it from ebay and still have saved over $75 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Jesus what the hell are you putting in that you need sucha massive amp kit? Just curious.

BTW, I'm not flaming you but if you did pay that much check around a little first. I made the mistake of purcasing a setup for like $700 and ended up selling most of it lol and found it much cheaper.

Umm....I don't know what you're running but having 1/0awg for main power cable coming off the battery is pretty common practice among most of the regulars here.

I am definitely not a regular on here. You can tell that by my post count.

I am running 4 gauge wire

I thought you only use I/0 for some huge *** 2000 watt rms amps? all I know is that my system sounds great right now with 4 gauge

I got the wire cheap, was like $55 off of ebay, so I went ahead and bought it. I bought it far before I bought my amps, so it's not a big deal really... I probably should have opted for 4awg but I managed with the 1/0 today. It's all installed now, tomorrow I'll start on the amps and everything else. Should be done over the weekend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good luck with that bro! You shut us all up! So what are you running anyways?

You judge your cabling needs by the amperage draw of the amp(s) you are using - not by their wattage output as current consumption from one amp to another amp of comparable wattage can differ greatly.
