Amp wiring question

my friend just got a system put into his car. He put in a fusion FP-600D amp running two 12's. The amp is 1 ohm stable but the guy said if he wired it 1 ohm he would fry his electrical system/ battery within a week. i wasn't there when they talked and this is just what my friend told me so maybe i'm missing something from the conversation but why would this happen?
