^^^Get a distribution block. One that accepts in 4 gauge wire, and goes 8 gauge out. That'll work for you.
I like this idea, thanks.I would just trim off a few strands of wire at the amp. Current capacity is effected by both diameter and length. Between the two you'd hardly be effecting it at all.
It should be perfectly fine too, just cut it nice and cleanly. You don't want any loose strands hanging out of the terminal that could possibly short out.I like this idea, thanks.

And 6ga is plenty for 550 watts, especially with a class D amp.
