Head unit won't turn on...

Well, I decided it was about time I got off my lazy butt and installed the HU I've had sitting around for awhile. I've already rewired all my car - I didn't feel the need to bother with the factory wiring.

But now I'm stuck in a rut. I didn't ever plan on reinstalling the factory system, when I get rid of my car, it'll be in a junkyard, so I didn't bother spending the money on a wiring harness. Just got the battery lead, and the ignition power, and the ground wires connected up. However, it won't turn on.

I checked it out, and apparently I must have connected the wires at some point, when I reconnected my battery to test it, because my audio fuse was fried at the fuse box. Didn't seem to be any damage to the HU though - it just wouldn't turn on. Replaced the fuse, didn't help.

Ideas? I'm going to take it into the local audio shop, as they know what they're doing, a good shop here. See what they think. However, I wanted some ideas first. See if I could fix this myself. Or if I possibly just killed my head unit. Old alpine model, CDM-9803, fyi.

Check for a ACC fuse too.

did you also check the fuse on the radio itself? if so, just test it straight from your battery. connect the black to negative and the yellow and red to positive. if it turns on the problem is in the wiring or another fuse.

Will do. There's factory amps, and there's a fuse for those, I'll check if that's ok.

On the actual HU, there's no visible fuse. I don't want to pull apart the darn thing (though if I have too, I will), to find the fuse. I was thinking that without one that's on the outside at all, it might not have one. Could easily be wrong there though.

The fuse for the factory amps was gone, too, but it didn't fix my problem when I replaced it.

And, these, I'm pretty sure, were blown with two wires touching. However, I don't believe my HU was ever actually connected at that time. Any ideas are welcome. Are there any more fuses to check?
