Amp+Sub wiring question

Hi All,

I ordered a Sub+Amp+Box package online and received the following parts.

12 inch sealed box with 2 connectors (+ and -)

12 inch DVC sub Audiobahn AW1251T (Dual 4ohm sub)

Juice JA590 Amp

My question is regarding wiring of the sub to the amp.

From what I understand, if I were to wire the Sub in parrallel, the Amp would see a 2ohm load. If I wire in series, it would see an 8ohm load.

the manual for the amp states that it can do 2-4ohm per channel in stereo but only 4ohm in bridged mode. The guy from the website told me the amp should do 8ohm in bridged mode which would allow me to wire the sub in series.

Just wanted to check this sounded correct as the manual does not mention the capability to run in bridged mode at 8ohm.

thanks in advance

Peter

Really not the best choice in equipment, you can do much better.

But to answer your question, you could either wire one coil to each channel (4 ohms per channel) or wire them in series (for an 8 ohm load) and bridge the amp. You won't be getting the full power out of the amp in either case though.

Thanks,

I have been puzzling about this for a while. I originally ordered a dual 2ohm sub but it was out of stock so they sent me this other one which they told me was an upgrade for the same price as the one I ordered.

Is there a way to calculate actually how much pwer I would get in 8ohm? I assume it's something like 50% or what I would get in 4 ohm?

Would the best setup to get maximum power from the amp with one sub be to run a DVC 2ohm sub and put the amp in bridge to get a 4ohm load? This was my original intent.

Thanks again

If you give me the rms rating for the amp at a particular load i can tell you what you will get at 8 ohms for sure if your interested
Someone's full of themselves. RMS typically isn't exactly how much an amp puts out at that load, so how in the world are you going to take that number and tell him exactly what he'll see at another load? I think what bubbagumper was more than a satisfactory answer.
