I am in a bit of a dilemma here, I hope I did not buy the wrong amp for my setup.
I am currently doing an installation on my boat, and have the following equipment:
1) Polk PA1100.5 5ch amp
Specs are:
Amplifier Class D
Number of Channels 5
RMS Power @ 4 ohms (Channels 1-4) 80 watts x 4 channels
RMS Power @ 4 ohms (Channel 5) 280 watts x 1 channel
RMS Power @ 2 ohms (Channels 1-4) 125 watts x 4 channels
RMS Power @ 2 ohms (Channel 5) 400 watts x 1 channel
RMS Power @ 1 ohms (Channel 5) 600 watts x 1 channel
Bridged RMS Power @ 4 ohms (Channels 1-4) 250 watts x 2 channels
Total RMS Power Output 1100 watts
Peak Power Output (Channels 1-4) 200 watts x 4 channels
Peak Power Output (Channel 5) 1200 watts x 1 channel
2) 4 x Polk MM651UM Speakers
Specs:
Peak Power Handling 200 watts
RMS Power Handling 100 watts
Impedance 4ohm
3) 1 x Kicker 10" L7 Sub, wired for 1ohm load, so 600w RMS
My goal:
I would like to power each of these speakers with 125w RMS, and this amp has 4 channels. I want to power the sub with 600w RMS with the 1ohm load.
The speakers are 4ohm right now, but from what I can tell this amp will only do 125w x 4 if they are in 2 ohm? How would I wire 4 speakers to present a 2 ohm load to all 4 channels?
I also see this amp runs 250w x 2 in bridged mode, but at 4 ohms. I don't think I can run these speakers in bridged mode / 2 channels right? Since they are 4ohm speakers, I dont think I can wire them to present a 4ohm load when bridged?
I am confused as to how I should wire these speakers optimally w/ this amp.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kris
