Amp/Sub Problems, can anyone help me on this.

hey, I was wondering if anyone can possibly help me figure out with the problem im having. My subs/amp turn on and off after the system is running for about 25-30 minutes and a little faster now that the weather has been getting hotter lately. This barely started happening and I was just wondering what it might be. I have a 2000 watt ppi amp and 2 12' l7 subs. I recently installed a alpine pdx f4 amp and the alpine spr components. And for a while i wasnt having any problems with them but now that the weather has gotten hotter they turn off after a while. They are hooked up to the same cap and i saw the number it was running when it goes bad and it's around 8-10. I know it should be around 14, can it be that i need a stronger cap or something else?

Temperature extremes are hard on batteries and alternators, and it's possible the heat is having an effect on your charging system. Do you have the Big 3 upgrade? Have you upgraded your alternator or made sure the stock alternator is large enough for your 2 amps? The cap is not likely causing your amp to shut off, but you could try removing the cap from the system and then see how it works after 30 minutes. Check to make sure your grounds are all tight, on bare metal directly on the body, and attached with a bolt and nut.

I sure hope you have some electrical upgrades for running 2000 watts. Sounds to me like you don't have the electrical to support your system and your amp is going into protect due to too low of a voltage.

So you're running a completely stock electrical system? That's why your amp is going into protect mode, you don't have the electrical to support your system. What kind of car do you drive?

yea everything is stock. I drive an 06 silverado. I think i fixed the problem, i took off the fuse holder for one of the amp wires and it was a complete mess. I replaced it and so far it hasn't gone bad, im crossing my fingers that that was the problem!
