i believe my amp stopped working, but im not sure so i have some questions.

the amp is a 1400w mono jbl gto hooked up to 2 12'' mmat subs

the subs sounded really good when i first put them in the car, but they progressevly decressed in power. it seemed like that i had to turn the volume up louder to get them to hit as hard as they were hitting at a lower volume when i first installed them, then they just stopped working all togather.

could this be the amp? the amp is mounted on the back of my box and has some room to breathe. i checked the 4 40a fuses on the amp nothing was blown, the amp turns on, the green light on the side is on and the one on the front is on. just asking for some suggestions before i go and get the amp bench tested, or take out my HU to see if the rca's got disconnected.

You can test the amp for output. disconnect the speaker wires. And get a DMM set it to ac voltage and check to see If there is any signal coming out of the amp when you are playing the radio or CD. Also check your grounds and Check to see If you have voltage at the positive posts on the amp. I have seen an amp have good ground and voltage at turnon for the amp and everything lights up but not voltage at positive terminal on the amp.

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
