amp problems

ok so i go back to cc

i really think i am dealin with a bunch of idiots

they look at my car guy changes the settings, the guy tells me that my 475rms is overpowering my 600rms mtx subs.

basically he said the problem was that the sub rattles to much (the voice coils) and it sends a bad signal to the amp makin it shut off.

i said that the subs are ratted at 300rms a piece i know these can take more then that and he go's yea but there is no cover over that for sure. so i think he was tryin to say that mtx lied about there ratings.

so i think i am done with cc for good, i will only use them for warrenty purposes.

and the best part when i left my stock speakers were almost louder then the subs, and the same crap happened and it cut out again

Do what I said an see if that fixes the problem, also try playing it at lower volumes and watch the lights on the amp and see if it flickers or anything or goes from power to protect then back again

You are probably clipping your friggin' amp, causing it to go into protect. If you are clipping your amp, then you ARE sending a bad signal to your woofers, and you'll probably blow them very soon if you don't get it taken care of.

Go HERE. Follow the tutorials to set your gain on the amp, and it should take care of the problem.

i tried what u said and it still happened

also why would i trun the gain half way up. i thought gain was bad

i will mess with it more tommarow

Then you are an idiot for not trying to fix the problem with your current amp. Setting the gain correctly is incredibly simple, and will save you the cost of having to buy a new amp, as well as the cost of buying new subs when you blow them after not setting the gains right on the HiFonics.

i guess i could take a pic and post how they have it set right now

the guy set the gain on my amp and it still happened did u not read that.

Gain controls the level of output your amp has. You need to have the gain up part of the way, or the amp will produce no power. If the gain is set too high, you cause clipping, which I think is what your problem is. When you clip the signal, your amp tries to put out more power than it is capable of. This results in a distorted signal that can harm both your amp and your subs. Most amps have a built in protection circuit and will shut themselves off if the signal starts clipping too much.

You have to set the gains using the HU settings you normally use. To set the gain, you have to :

Turn up the HU volume as high as you will NORMALLY listen to it. Turn the Sub volume on the HU to between 75 and 100 %. Then play a 50 Hz test tone (which you can download from realmofexcursion.com), and set the gain using the method provided in the JL Tutorial. i would never trust the guys at the big box stores to install my equipment. One of my friends had Best Buy install a CD Player, and they jimmy-rigged it up instead of installing it with the proper brackets. Buying anew amp is not going to help you if your problem is being caused by an incorrectly-installed system. If you don't feel confident enough to mess around with it yourself, take it to a REAL audio shop. Brick and mortar shops beat the hell out of big box stores any day.

ok thanx for the help

i am gonna try and take a pic of the settings right now, if i can figure out how to shut the flash off.

and i will take a pic of the ground to see if it is a good spot or not

ok well camera dident work so i wrote down what it is at

i have the stock head unit i usually listen to it around 25-28 the head unit go's from 0-36

he has the settings at

gain 1/4 out of 11

x over from 50-200 is almost half way up

bass boost is at 0

and on the headunit he has the bass at 0, the bass on the head unit will go from -9 to +9

Yeah man, I don't know hwat to tell you. Your amp may just be crap. Take it to a decent audio shop and have them look at it. if it's facked, take it back to CC and get a new one. If you bought it there, it should have arranty, and they have to replace it since they instaled it.
