20mV from Maxima stock Bose speakers ?

Hi,

I want to install a MTX 300watts with subwoofer on my 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Normaly, the voltage to get from any stock source speaker is between 350mV

to 5V. From my rear 2004 maxima, I measured 20mV to the rear speaker terminal

at any volume level. Is that normal. I don't think that I can get signal from those

stock speakers. Someone told me thet my car is equiped with reactive speakers and it's not possible to use them to get the sound signal.

20mV doesn't seem too unreasonable as a DC offset from the HU. possibly you are measuring DC-V, depending on implementation, the DC offset may not change with volume.

short of that, i would guess the speakers are not receiving a signal.

the HU provides a voltage signal, so the speaker's reactance, which is in parallel to the LoC, should not largely affect the LoC.

I am assuming you have Bose? It is very typical for Nissan to use 2Ohm drivers with the 'Bose' HUs, with the exception of the tweeters. Why are you measuring the VCs while the stereo is on?

Also what is exactly that your trying to achieve back there? A simplier way would be to grab the wires either prior to the amp or better yet at the HU itself. Those leads are unamplified/unprocessed low level outputs. No need for a LOC of any sort.

goto forums.maxima.org. sign up. and ask your question. that or i bet a google search will answer your question. and i had no problem tapping off my rear bose speakers for a signal in my 97. good luck.
