Amp problem

Hey guys,

I just got a 97 golf and i am trying to install a sub and amp. Got my power wire all hooked up, remote wire is connected, (to the 12v ignition wire ) rca's and ground wire is also done. Turn on the car and the right light on my amp doesn't come on. I know my amp is kind of old and might not work, so I run to walmart and grab a cheap one to use for now. Same problem. I'm thinking it might be the ground but that's all I can think of. The protect light isn't on so it seems like the ground is alright but its not powering up.Any suggestions?

sub - 12" type R

HU - kenwood (newer one)

Amp - kenwood KAC 9152d and some lame Dual brand.

Where is it grounded? Did you check the fuse? Have you used a DMM to check for voltage on all the wires at the amp?

check your ground, bring it down to bare metal and probe your remote turn on and 12v power at the amp.
