hey Im really frustrated right now.I got my new amp in today a hifonics bxi2006d and it is dissapointing.I have a 15" kicker L7 in a ported box,and when i first finised the box my buddy let me borrow his bx12005 and it slammed. Also it was wired at 2 ohms so it was getting i would say around 750-800 since there alittle overated.Well anywyas the new line the one that i have is rated at 1300 at 2 ohms, and its alot quieter.I checked for out of phase stuff, made sure they were wired to 2 ohms everything.I have a hunch but idk this new amp accepts 2 awg wire and i have 4 guage with 8 gauge coming out of the distro block so its 4 gauge to the distro block and 8 gauge to the amp.Any ideas?thanks

did you turn up the gains? there's really no way for anyone on the interent to troubleshoot this with the current amout of information.
sorry, yes ive messed with the gains 5 or 6 times.I checked all equalizers on my headunit. The bass boost is on 0 on the amp.I just basicly dropped this amp in nothing changed on my headunit. Its supposed to do 1300 at 2 ohms it feels like 200.Also i had a bx1205 running it before and it sounded twice as loud.I took out my sub and made sure it was wired in parralel twice and it was.Do i have a defective amp? if so would it still be making the woofer move with now distortion.Should i take it out and open it and look at the guts? The only other thing im gonna try right now is check the voltage at the amp.Any help would be appreciated.thanks

Well first off, make sure your gains and stuff are all set up along with HU settings... Also, wtf are you doing using 8awg wire on a bxi2006d? In my experiences, amps that accept up to a certain size wire usually NEED big wire. When i had my mrv-t757 (not a huge amp by any means) i had 8awg runnin to it, and when i cranked it up it would slam pretty hard for only 75w per channel, but on bass kicks it jsut seemed to lack. Changed to 4awg and she slammed perfectly. 8AWG is tiny shit. Hell ive seen ppl in comps running 8awg from their amp to the subs! The point is, wiring might have a lot more to do with it than you think.

Well i ran smaller amps on it its only 8 gauge from the distro to the amp as well.you think i should do 2 gauge and then 4 gauge to the amp? Also even though im using smaller wire shouldent it be atleast the same loudness as my bx1205d.

not necessarily. The bigger they are, the harder they fall on their face. Its probably a bit less efficient than your other amp and is constructed differently. I would recommend AT LEAST 2 awg from the battery, and if possible try to use as large a wire as you can going from distro to amp.

so you think 2 gauge from the battery and then 4 gauge from the distro block to the amp would be fine,or 0 gauge from the battery to the distro block then 2 guage to the amp?

why not just go with 1/0 gauge so u wont have to upgrade later! Also Definitely mess with amp settings and H/U settings.......
that amp kit is 1/0 gauge.I was jsut gonna run it to the distro blcok then 2 guage from the distro block to the amp.Good idea? is that amp kit fine?thanks guys i appreciate it.

....i could've told you that amp leaves a lot to be desired......

i've bought an interstate megatron mkII, optima red top, kinetik 800, 240A iraggi alternator, redid big-3 and all wiring in 1/0 ga. all to try and get that amp to put out some power, and it still blows

that amp was my first experience with hifonics, and it'll be my last

i'm going back to an opti

Are opti's any good? im kinda wary of the lanzar name...

Anyways back on topic. If im not mistaken tsunami is one of those "smaller than the rest" brands when it comes to wire. I might be wrong. Do a search, they have a thread comparing wire sizes of different brands ehre on the forums...
