amp problem

hey guys i have a interesting problem with the install i just did in my gf's car......the system is in a 03 alero there is no factory amp in it that im aware of and the system is a 12" re se and a mtx 801D with a factory deck still....i used the smart engage feature on the 801D amp so all i had to do was tap into the rear speakers of the car well the problem is that the amp turns on just fine and plays alright but it take forever to shut off when you turn the car off it takes about 20 to 30 seconds and then right before it shuts off you can hear the sub make a sound like its playing a very very very short burp not loud at all or anything and then it shuts off. Then after a little while with the car off and the alarm armed when you unarm the alarm the amp will turn on again and stay on for 20 to 30 seconds again and then shut off just fine so i am curious if you guys have any idea as to wha might be going on with this? o yeah the alarm is a compustar incase you were wondering

well, first of all make sure that if you used high inputs the the rear speakers are no longer connected, if you rear speakers are still connected and then your inputting to the amp most likely heres your problem. also if this doesn't help make sure that wire you used to remote turn on your amp isn't getting hot with the key off. just use a test light and let a friend turn the key slowly on and off so you can test it. I bet this is also part of your problem. next, make sure you have a good ground and hot. like connect the hot straight to the battery and make sure your ground is free of paint. I promise that one of these will fix the problem any time bro.

one more thing, test the hot you used as the remote while locking/unlocking, arming/disarming the alarm to make sure you don't see any spikes( with a test light), if you do find a new remote/acc wire.

so are you saying the rear speakers should be connected or not ? and as far as the remote turn on i dont need to use one with this smart engage as it uses the signal from the rear speakers to trun on the amp as well as send the singnal to the amp here is a link for the smart engage explained http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/2004amps/features.cfm
