Amp problem

I just bought an older Lanzar SL800D optidrive off ebay. 500w @ 2 ohm, 800w @ 1 ohm. Just hooked it up tonight and am getting some very loud low frequency noise out of 1 of the channels.

THis is supposedly an mono block amp, yet it has 4 inputs. It also has 2 sets of speaker outputs. When I plug 2 inputs into 1 and 2...I get the noise. I mean..the amp is unusable at that point. It seems to be mainly input 2. On inputs 3 and 4 its ok. I'm not sure if i need to use both sets of inputs to get full power out of the thing. THe manual does say.."use either signal source-using BOTH will not damage the amplifier". So that makes me think that I can run a set of RCA's to either 1-2 or 3-4 and be ok. What I dont know is if I'm getting full power by not running into all 3.

On the speakers outs...heres another weird thing: In the book it lists that to run a single sub...use the + terminals off BOTH sets of outputs. WTF? I tried it and of course I get nothing... When I hook up 1 positive on one set and the negative on the other channel...it works. That seems to me to be the proper way to run it.

I'm not sure if i should just send the thing back and get my money back (only paid $120 for it) or just try and run it using inputs 3-4. I'm planning on running a pair of 10" JL 10w6v2's off it @ 1 ohm. Right now I've got 1 hooked up at 2 ohms and it sounds ok.

Suggestions? Is that 2nd channel blown?

I'm confused...Its a monoblock and and it has 2 sets of outputs? Usually in mono outputs are positive on one side and neg on the other...For mono output to be both positives would be very weird...Although not that familiar with older lanzar...

No doubt. Although...I just rechecked the auction and the seller didnt mention monoblock. So I got that somewhere else...mistakenly I guess.

Anyway, looking for input on whether or not there is a huge problem with this amp or if i should send it back.

its okay a lot of mono amps have that, my viper had that too. its for ease of use in wiring more than one sub. if you are only using one sub, then use wichever set of terminals you like.

Did your viper have more than 1 set of inputs also?

I'll eventually use both subs. Is it better to wire the subs up in parallel to get to 1 ohm (and use 1 set of terminals on the enclosure) or use 2 sets of terminals? It probably doenst make a difference but I thought I'd ask...
