Amp Help PLEASE!

Today I finally got my amp in the mail. A Lanzar vibe 258. I know it's not so great but I heard they're actually pretty good. So, I tried hooking it up today. I had everything wired up, and then went to hook up the power cable to the battery. I had both battery connections off, and hooked it to the positive terminal onto the bolt where all the other wires are on. I then hooked the negative terminal up and got a big spark. I tried it again and got an even bigger spark. I checked the fuse on the power wire and the amp fuses and they all look good.

My sub is an '05 Alpine type-r 12, with one channel going to each voice coil. The amp does 400 watts rms @ 4 ohms x 2 channels.

What could be going wrong? I bought the amp as refurbished, so I'm pretty sure it came in perfect working order.

same thing happened to me man, but i hooked it up with the power on and it sparked at the amp. GEt a volt tester and make sure everything is getting the proper power, u know 12v or higher and then u will know if it is broken. Or just go to an electronic store and they will test it for u

Ugh f*ck that isn't what I was hoping to hear. What electronics store should I take it to?
