American Built Subwoofers

I will be bringing a new prototype woofer for display at Carlisle next weekend. 100% US made everything.

there was a topic lke this not too long ago, almost every woofer company either gets their parts overseas, or has the entire woofer assebled there. There is nothing wrong with that either. I get my cones, coils, and dust caps from the states. My spiders come from Mexico, baskets and tinsel from Asia.

Seriously?man that sucks, a few years ago a toured the Rockford and MTX plants, then a year later I was at Kicker. this was 2003 and 2004 and production was taking place there. I know a few people at kicker maybe I will call and confirm but I believe the Solo Xs are made here.
Ed, I am afraid he is right and it does ****. I personally spoke to a Rockford Fosgate rep and he told me things are no longer manufactured here. It does ****.
Are you sure everything is made/built in China?

I import all the freight for Mitek and Rockford Corporation.

The speakers for Rockford are made and built in China...

But, the subs and amps are put together here in the US, although they do import all of the individual parts from China... for example: heatsinks, printed circuit boards, sheet metal, etc....

99% of subs built in the US are just that, only built here, they get all off the shelf parts from China, ship them to the US and assemble them here. Not a bad thing, but they aren't particularly US made.

I was just wondering how you import stuff with no water near Arizona ? lol

Actually I think most source most of the parts here in the states. Aside from baskets where i think 99% of them come from china, they probably still buy them from us based firms

It's alot easier to buy cone's/spiders from Nuway and coils from Precision econowind. than from the Chinese and unless your doing huge numbers of subs ( ie Fi ) the price difference is negligible

Magnets, top plates and t-yokes are cheaper from China though. Also, much if not most of Econowind's VCs are now wound in China.

You are looking for, presumably, a few specific used products from a relatively small specific company, and that's how little patience you show in tracking them down? Have you considered anything from your local BestBuy instead?
Firstly, I want only new products. I checked ebay and they have only 2 different mmat products on there. I will keep on checking. The only reason I would go with Mmats is purely to support an all american company. I would personally like a setup consisting of two, ten inch t1's from rockford fosgate in .75 cu ft per sub sealed enclosure but I am holding out cause I want something built in the usa.

Why does it REALLY matter that much,
A question for the OP...

nG
Agreed, many quality subs come from China. Mach 5 SPL, AQ HDCs, I believe Sundown's SD series and many others. Certain buildhouses in China are bad, but so are some in the US, just use the right one with good QC and you'll have no problems.
