American Built Subwoofers

even if it is assembled in America most of the parts come from overseas
Most products are like that.

Even if a sub is made in China, the raw materials come from elsewhere.

for example.

At CeeLite we manufacture high end flat LEC light panels.

Our phosphor comes from the US, our laminates, copper, binder, ITO, foil. all come from Pennsylvania, right near our offices. We then ship these materials to Taiwan where the panels are assembled. we then ship the panels back here to the US.

redundant I know.

Is labor that much cheaper there that the cost of shipping there and back doesn't offset the labor savings?

I mean obviously yes, but I didn't think it would save that much.

Well their subs are among the best out there. Not only multiple SPL records and championships, but last year a SQ championship. I love my subs very much.
The coax and components are not made in the US. They are decent but there is better out there.
Thanks for the response.

5 years ago it was worth it. But times change and shipping charges kill us. So we are currently looking to build a plant here in the states.

maybe the good thing about oil prices is that it can bring manufacturing back to the US.

Hondas and Toyotas are already being made here. Maybe Mexico, not too sure)

While it sucks because it will raise your production costs, I like the thought of transport costs helping to even the playing field with foreign labor.

there is a toyota plant about 3 hours away from my house. Also have a volvo plant within 2 hours or so. Pretty neat stuff

Also my Honda Fit's sticker on the window said it was made in mishimoto something Japan. Entered the country through the Seattle port. eventually wound up in Charlotte NC and made its way to me

I like the Digital Designs subs http://www.ddaudio.com they are made in Oklahoma City and have been around for several years...I have been to their factory and met everyone there...I saw them building subs that were to be shipped all over the world....There are many good subs out there...but I try to run DD's in almost all my rides...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

even they admit to not making the ferrites. do they charge the magnets there?

My comment was not to stir a political debate, just a fun little poke at NAFTA. I know that 1 subwoofer isn't going to destroy the economy.
The jackhammer made baby jesus cry...why couldn't it destroy the economy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
