american bass XD 12s and jl audio XD 1000/1v2 = good setup?

Just bought a jl XD 1000/1v2 for an awesome price and was looking for some good 500watt 12s. I've been out of the game for a long time and idk whats hot these days. Was looking at a pair of American Bass XD 12s. But searched the forums here and read a lot of people putting 1000 watts rms to them. The specs I've seen say 500 rms on the XDs..are they just way underated?

recommendations for a pair of 12s for that amp would be nice too. Was also considering DC audio level 2 12s..

Anything that says 500 you can normally run a 1000 watt amp on. If you know what you are doing.
