Am I wiring this correctly?

This will be my first time wiring a sound system ever......(I did my home entertainment system and that was easy)

but after reading about bridging, ohms, etc...I'm not as confident as I thought.

Here are the items I bought.

JL Audio M700/5 (amp)

Specs:

75 W x 4 @ 4 Ω + 300 W x 1 @ 2 Ω - 14.4V

Inside the amp the 2 positive and 2 negatives are connected in parallel

2 (JL Audio M8IB5-SG-WH) subs

Specs:

200 W, 4 Ω

4 (JL Audio MX650-CCX-SG-WH) speakers

Specs:

60 W, 4 Ω

Alpine CDE SXM145 BT (Head unit)

Specs:

2 pre amp outputs

Based on my wiring schematic am I pointed in the right direction?

I'm guessing I have to use RCA Y splitters from the top row of outputs from the head unit to the amp for Channels 1 through 4 based on the Alpine manual. The subs will get a standard RCA cable from the bottom row of outputs to the amp. Head unit only has 2 outputs.

Looks like you need to change the RCA's at the amp... as it is the right H/U channel is controlling 1 and 2 at the amp... and the left is controlling 3 and 4 at the amp... unless you WANT to put your right speakers front/rear on 1 and 2 and left side front/rear on 3 and 4... the gain settings will be the same for front and rear right side and front and rear left side like this... also if your currently running the sub channel off the rears IDK for sure but the amp might sum all channels internally or be selectable... I can't tell... the other side of the amp is not visible... but as it is you will have no fader anyways, it will seem like the balance function... This required a TON of thought... I hope it helps... anyone else want to weigh in?... this one is stretching my mental acuity... LOL!

Would be better if you had a HU with 3 pre outs instead of 2. This way, it would be much easier to run 4 ch RCA's and 2 ch RCA's to the amp.
Unfortunately the head unit is paid for and installed. I wish I would have done more research into that part.

Understandable. But...if you could later on down the road get yourself a better HU with 3 pre outs, do it. So for now, using a few Y splitters might be your only option.

Just change left H/U RCA at the amp to both lefts on the amp (1&3) for example and right RCA to (2&4) for example... that way you will have no problems with your left/right level adjustment and you can set gains differently for front/rear if need be... I think I stated that correctly... LOL!

I get what you mean! Thanks!

Ok now that the wiring is figured out.

I'll have to figure out the input sensitivity controls and filter controls.

Which is way beyond my expertise.

I have a few input modes.

This is something I can do in person easily... but explaining it is another thing... LOL!... I'll leave that to someone who has explained it clearly before... I'd start a new thread in "Amplifiers".... maybe title it "how to set gains?"... good luck!
