Am I Getting Ripped Off???? Please Help!!!!

Im pretty sure that these speakers were put in the wrong type of box (sealed) the manual says the speakers require a PORTED box. That is a vented box right??
Yeah ported is vented. Although putting your CV subs in a sealed enclosure wouldn't cause any damage. They just might not sound as good as they would in a ported box.

What CV subs do you have? How big was the box that the subs were in?

I'll be sure to avoid Quad City Sound in Jacksonville.

I used to live near Tampa. I still go down there to visit friends and family.

I have the cv vegas 124 12". I dont know the size of the box that I have them in. I bought all of this name brand stuff that is supposed to be really good, cerwin vegas ppi 2125 amp, kenwood 10 disc changer, & I didnt even consider the quality of the box that I put this stuff into. I bought a box from the pawn shop made for 12" subs. The kind with gray carpet covering it. Thankfully. Cerwin vega will replace my speakers, so maybe now all I will need is a better speaker box that is vented.

That's good news that you can get new one's from CV.

Don't buy another box from a pawn shop! Most of them are total crap!

The quality of the enclosure has a huge impact on the sound you get from your subs. Bad box = Bad sound quality.

Use CV's reccomended box and port sizes to start with.

Use a box that's close to those specs and you'll be fine.

I think there are some guys on here that could build you a custom box. Only bad thing is the shipping costs can get a little high.

Just ask around.

i believe rangerman builds boxes.and loneranger does too,i think..but ya contact either them and u should be fine.

right those are awsome those are know to be in spl comps. I think the shop messed them up. This does not sound like the voice coil is blown. I think voice coil came out of the gap that is why it work when he pushs down on it. or the coil is rapped to high (do ask just think about what i said). So Send them back to Cerwin-vega and let them fix them and or they will send you new ones. Seeing that the Vega's are discontinued the and the V-mags took there place. You can not lose. But stay away from that KOILer and pryamid stuff. Go with Lightning audio they should do very well. If u go with the bolt line make shure The model# starts with an B. not an P. or Just ask me and I would love to help you but Just ask and we can be of lots of help.

435$ ?!?!?!? that's ridiculous. I just had a line level converter and amp installed for 80 bucks. The only reason i didn't do it was because my engine compartment is extremly crampt (german enginerring for ya drrr). If I were you I would try to get some of that money back. And if it was a bad job pay someone 100 bucks to install ur amp for you and get someone from the forum to help you wire your subs. (quite easy)

probably there is a short in the wire that goes from the terminal to the woofer cone. that happened to one of my subs and when ever you would push down on it, it would play.
