Can someone please explain what I need to do to connect my new HO alternator to my car please?

ok first off nate broke that pieace in haft because that is the internal regulator,, so there for he wanted you to bypass that,, now worse comes to worse you can probly unbolt your old stock regulator to the new one,, form wut i can see,, but you have to remember nate puts paint on all his screws,, so if you loosen them he will know,, and probly will notgive you a warrenty,, but take that blue wire extend it to a 12v ignition source,, and then put your regular batt cable to the alt post,, let me know threw a pm if you have any problems

This is from Nate.

The factory harness will not be used if you have the external voltage regulator. You will have to connect the wire coming out of the alternator to the external regulator. I am sure I included the wiring instructions with it. Did you see them ?

This is also from nate:

The external regulator can be used on your car with only 1 alternator. You will be able to turn it up to about 15 volts without having to get a voltage step down. If you want to run higher voltage than that, you will need to get something to keep the voltage 15v or below for the vehicle and run the higher voltage to the amps.

So now I need to figure out how to wire this all up. I didn't find the instructions and asked him to email me them. Hope he does soon I'd like to have the alternator back in tomorrow. We are at my wifes mom and dads. He's helping me and we are 250 miles from home so we need a working car.

Another issue I don't get is if the 18 gauge wire is used .. How do I get a 200 amp alt? I mean all it's current has to run through that little 18 gauge wire.

you havent' post what year car model is so nobody replies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Where is your stock harness goes to? in basic cars like a older civic, it's just a basic wires connect straigt to alternator. I don't think i have harness connect through it.

Are you serious??Why not just pay someone to install it like the box you had built.I mean for real do some research.

The regulator just REGULATES the voltage coming from the alt.It has nothing to do with the amperage.Follow the instructions written on the side of the regulator.12v positive from your battery to the POS,ground to the NEG, and the blue wire on the alt to the FLD.Make sure the dial is all the way to the left and you have a dmm on the positive post of the alt.Slowly turn the dial to the right till your dmm reads 14.7-8v.

Question:

1: What do we do with the large factory connector black connector that used to plug into the old alternator connection harness?

We NEED that connection to power the rest of the engine bay's electronics. Please review the pictures carefully and get back to me .

We know for the ring terminal conntor we need another wire and thats understandable. It's just the big black plastic connector that is a BIG problem for us right now.

We have 4 people trying to figure this out. 1 out of the 4 is a mechanic and the other is an electrical engineer. If you can please go into detail to how these factory wires are wired up along with the regulator. The directions with the regulator were so short it didn't provide the information we are looking for.

I hope we are on the same page NOW with the pictures and our main problem. I don't see how with the big black connector HOW it wires into the new alternator

The factory plug won't work anymore with that alt!He removed it as to wire it up for the external regulator you asked for.You HAVE to use the regulator or put the stock one back in.

I mean you have a mechanic and an engineer and they can't figure that out?????

I can't believe it takes 4 people to install ONE alternator!!!!
