Alternator Voltage?

Anyone have an idea how many volts the alternator (60 Amps) of a 1989 Civic (1.5 litre engine) puts out?

I want to get an amplifier to match the voltage for maximum watts.

get a multimeter and find out.

13.8-14.2 vdc.

Also, amperage is more important then voltage in regards to what You've said there.

Most alternators regardless of the amperage output will put out from 13 ~ 14.5 volts like NjccBFlo has stated.

I don't know how involved of a system you're wanting to put in that Civic but a 60 amp alternator isn't going to support too much outside of the energy needs of the car itself.

If you're going with anything more than 3 or 4 hundred watts I'd suggest looking into taking that alternator to a rewinder or buying an HO unit to replace it.

civics will put out around 12.8-13.8

I'm planning on a basic sound quality system at moderate volume levels. I have components (60RMS) and two 6.5" woofers (80RMS). And was planning on upgrading my current amp (35RMS) to something in the neigbourhood of a 4 channel 50-80 RMS amp. Do you think my 60 amp altenator will suffice?
