I have a 97 blazer with a 105 amp alternator and was planning on buying a 200 amp alternator and a 3 farad cap will this be good enough? right now my two amps im running equal 210 amps.

Ditch the caps. That alternator will be quite enough. Just upgrade the "big 3" wires, and if you want, replace the battery. (a group 31 batt ideally if you have the cash. Even a yellow top will do fine)

what exact amplifiers are you running? also, where u getting ur alt from...i suggest http://www.excessiveamperage.com great quality alts. that put out rated amperage. AND, ditch the cap...peace

i wouldn't recommend mr.alternator because they have terrible amperage at idles. i got a 200 amp alt. that's 110 amps at an idle for $335 shipped from dominick iraggi i think his e-mail is Dominck@tds.net.

the cap will not be needed with a proper HO alternator. Also, check out http://www.excessiveamperage.com Nate's 200 amp alts give 200 amps at idle. Read on his site, also his prices are lower...good alts. good luck, peace

gettting a cap wont hurt when u have the alternator. But i suggest u get an optima red top or yellow top instead of the cap. if ur gona get a cap just get a 1 farad. no need for 3 farad.

he told me his only puts out 100 at an 800rpm idle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif anyways it's still a good alt. but i chose dom because he gives a little better warranty.

Well, nate says he uses underdrive pulleys....alts will cut on at 900 rpms. So unless ur car idles REALLY low it should cut on by then...my idles between 900-1100 rpms.

Hmm...just HOW necessary is an HO alt??

I'd say only necessary if you have plans to add more amps OR you just have a lot of money and want to spend it.

Otherwise - a 105A alt isn't exactly weak and SHOULD power those amps w/o a lot of trouble.

Well I can only turn my sub amp up 1/4 of the way with out it cutting out from power loss and I already have a Optima red top battery. My alternator only cost $270 for a 200 Amp Alternator so its not too expensive.
