Alternator or other issue?

id send you my dc clamp but i really dont know you so im sure you can understand my hesitation. just ask around on facebook groups and whatnot as annoying as they are. maybe go to a car audio meet and someone will have one
if its similar to my ad244s at all you're getting between 115-130a at idle hot, and about 160-180a cold above idle
I'm going to the AZSpl meet Wednesday... I'll ask... maybe 180A max off idle cold... at 1500 rpm?

at 1500rpm definitely, depends on the pulley size, if its stock maybe a little less but if its a smaller pulley maybe a little more

I'll post the results one way or the other... Wednesday PM if someone has a DC clamp meter available... preferably a Fluke...

No results on the alt... I asked people to use their clamp meter and this what people said...

Maybe I'll but a Fluke, but a $400 plus meter I'll use once or twice... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Until I have a way to test I'll digress... LOL!

theyre inaccurate at low amperages maybe, but the tolerances are listed in the manual. theyre not as bad as that guy said lol you can get a fluke meter with a dc clamp for ~$100 not 400

I WAS wondering about that... he said Singer said it was 80A off on a 350A alt or something like that... Yes... I looked and $100 was the price...

80a off? uhh yeah i dont think so. they're pretty accurate and id be more inclined to think singer is saying that to get the guy to be quiet because he doesnt understand the difference between cold and heat soaked outputs as well as output at RPM

mine is giving me numbers that seem completely accurate, maybe a few amps off sure, but 80a? yeah right

I'll buy one soon probably...

My teamate has been putting these alts in builds. They clamped it. It didnt do 250, but was over 200 but at 2k rpm. They are lasting fine in his builds. But 1 in an 06 sierra keeps failing.

My teamate runs 1 in his truck. On a Cadence 5k @ 0.35 with only an optima and kinetik 1200 he stays above 13.4, and he clamped 38xx, so hes making power

Has BNR warrantied the failing one easily?... If the customer requests it they'll video benchtesting and provide birthsheet... I'd think THAT would make sure the power is as described... LOL!..

I'd ask to have the video benchtest made and also see the unit go into the box on video if I had to buy another one someday...

Its in 1 particular truck. Hes done about 10 of em so far.

I agree, alt is NOT a good place to cut corners cuz it can physically leave you stranded.

But they seem ok for what they are, which is probably just rebuilt ad244s

Been thru it many times. Not fun. Esp on a freeway. Hello, triple AAA? Uh yeah my vehicle is on the side of the road...
