think i need a new alternator, ive been readnig around but i decided to ask some poeple who will know better then me. i have a 95 lumina Ls im failry sure its the oem alt and i have no idea how old the battery is. alt is i think 100-105 amps. i been running 1 infinity 12.1 sub off a alpine mrv 100M amp for almst a year and notice some light dimming at times. now im running 2 infinity 12.1 off a JBL GTO601 .II amp, and when i get the volume up the subs hit very hard, and my lights dim big time. im not turing it up right now cuz i fear i might fry my alt, specially at red lights. what would you recommend?? 150-200amp alt?? will my car be ok lol, new battery??

and no the big 3 has not bee done, very hard in my vehicle due to limited engine bay space

Luminas = Delco 105 amp alts.

I kept the stock alt on my 98 Lumina. I had a Yellow Top in the trunk and the big 3 done. I didn't really have any light dimming once I got that extra battery in off 2kw.

Nah not really i mean if you don't count the gay positioning of the battery (under the strut bar and windshield wiper fluid). Since the alternator sits on the top left of the engine its fairly easy to get to.

Everytime I did something to the battery in that car at the end of the day it looked like i banged a smurf... Blue windshield wiper fluid FTL!

I've had a buncha different sh*t in that car. It has gone to Lumina heaven with 150k miles on it (transmission was slippin didn't wanna replace) and has been replaced by an '01 impala.

how about if i uped my amp kit, just got a crapp 8gaueg one atm, think 0-4 gauge would be better for power wire? well i know its better but would it help or no

Even if you were going to upgrade your alt, you'd STILL want to do the big 3 to maximize that upgrade. Knowing this, it only makes sense to do the big 3 first and see if that's all you need. And if you do not know how old your batt is, chances are it needs replaced too.

Be smart, start with the basics and move on from there.
