Alpine Type X

Alright heres the deal I know not much about systems and need some help...

Im looking at gettin 1 12" Type X sub

Im needing helpwith the amp for it

People have said getting 2 Rockford Fosgate Power 1001bd or 2 mrd-m1000 to power the one sub would be good.

The sub is at 4ohms but i see you can run it at 2ohms... so would i run it at 2 or 4.. the amp give 1000rms on 2ohms and 500rms on 4ohms....

Also I need a good place to get a Ported box for this sub to follow specs for best SPL preformance...

Just find a mono amp that puts out max power at 2 ohms.

What about the JL Audio 1000/1 Monoblock Amplifier

that pushes out 1000w RMS at 4ohms.. that would be good right?

First of all whats the Subs RMS?

Type X is 1000 watts RMS, and 3000 watts peak

with dual 4-ohm voice coils

The JL 1000/1 is an excellent unit.

However, if you have dual 4 ohm coils, that's not going to push max power to the sub. Probably around 500 watts, in fact.

No, the JL does full power from 1-4 ohms or something like that...

oh, didn't know that before. That's cool - my PG amps are like that, only they're not 1 ohm stable.

JL's pricey, but not that bad. To the original poster...what's your budget?

well my budget is... well there really isnt one, altho if i could go cheaper i would but i dont wanna lose ne power or ne thing with it

what in your minds would be a better amp to push 1000watts RMS to this sub for cheaper(but yet still good) other then the JL.. which i agree is VERY pricy

could i run the Alpine mrd-m1000 at 2ohms and push 1000 rms or the Rockford Fosgate Power 1001bd at 2 ohms and push it too?

let's see...1kW+ at 2 ohms, for cheap:

JBL 1200.1

PG Tantrum 1200.1 ($300 if you can find one, not sure if that's in your range)

I'm pretty sure the Alpine is 2 ohm stable, and so is the Rockford. Both are good choices.
