Alpine type x subwoofer not pounding

hey peeps i have an 12" alpine type x subwoofer and a 12"alpine type r subwoofer i hooked them up separately to an alphasonic mono amplifier capable of 1640 watts max power and the typr r sounded better. whats the deal?

what final ohm load did you wire your subs to?

it had to be down to 2 ohms

to me it just sounds like the X wasnt seeing enough to get it going.

out of the 2 the Type R is geared more towards SPL and the X is their SQ driver...in addition it takes less to get the type R going

what that 1640 rms at 1 ohm or 2?

than youre not giving it enough. if you had an amp that did 1500 at 2ohms, it would be diff

and you said 1640 is the max wattage. So you are seeing NOWHERE near that much.

Id say the type R on about 800-1000 should be fine, if you plan on using 1500+ then you will see the X shine after that
