Alpine Type X help (sounds ridicoulously weak)

I have an 10" alpine type X sub (1000watts RMS) in a sealed box thats about 2-2.5 cubic feet powered by a JL Audio e1800 amp (also 1000rms @ 2ohms).

The sub has no power whatsoever, from inside the car it hits just better than my Lexus Bose stock subwoofer and it's not that loud at all. I was shocked as to how it performed because it is such a high-powered, expensive, and huge sub.

I have the sub wired correctly running at 2 ohms.

I have seen some people say that this sub hits so hard its unheard of, but either this subs sucks complete *** or there's something majorly wrong.

I was thinking maybe it could be the box but I have absolutely NO idea what is wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

P.S. I was thinking about just selling the alpine dirt cheap and getting 2 kicker competition CVR15's (500watts rms each, dual 2 ohm). Do these subs hit really hard?

Lol

"Optimum Sealed Box: 0.65cft Gross. 0.49cft Net."

2-2.5cft is wayyyyyyyy too much for that sub alone.

Again, pictures of setup. Probably gains settings.

PS: Hell even the Ported box was only recommended for 1.4cft gross volume.

A) Your amp is rated for 800w @ 2 Ohms not 1,000w...
B) Are you absolutely certain the sub is wired in parallel to 2 Ohms and not in series to an 8 Ohm load? (which would feed it about 200w from that amp...)
actually it IS rated for 1000@ 2ohms @ 14.4 volts...

its 800@ 2ohms @ 12.5

i'd say the problems are...

#1 your box is way too big...

#2 type-X's are really over-rated...

#you possibly have them wired wrong

is the sub moving a lot but you aren't hearing a lot of bass? If this is the case, make sure your pos and neg aren't switched at your amp..

if your sub isn't moving much, make sure it is indeed wired at 2 ohms

either way go way smaller on the box or try ported

Give it about 0.8-1.0cf sealed, no polyfill to start. Double and triple check the wiring of the VC's (and everything else, for that matter). A Type-X sub should be beating the crap out of the low end without breaking a sweat.

I agree... is the sub moving?? The box is about 1 cf too big... you may be losing low end from that.

1st step: check and doublecheck all wiring.

2nd step: check all gain, EQ, and crossover settings.

3rd step: Check for any leaks in box.

why didnt you get a type r? i think the type x's are more for sound quility not really spl
A Type X, when properly powered and placed in an appropriate enclosure, will shake a person out of the drivers seat... and do it cleanly and clearly.

My type X wasn't to loud till we gave it over 1300rms or more.

check to make sure you have the bridge connectors plugged in to the sub that the sub actualy runs in parrallel because if you dont then you will only be powering 1 coil at 4 ohm
