I liked what I heard with the type S even off head unit power. Depending on how much power you will be providing the Type S's might sound better just b/c they make better use of less power. If you are going to give the Type R's their RMS rating or a little more then I would go with the Type R's since its only an extra $35

Agreed. The extra money for the R's is well worth it, especially if you can give them around RMS.
