Have two ? about the sub. I have an Orion 1200d and thinking about getting two 12" dual 2ohm alpine type r subs for 1/2 ohm daily driver. I have heard that these subs can handle alot more than spec, how much more? Also can two type r's hit around 140 or more? Any type r or Orion owners with this setup?

Why not get 2 dual 4ohm subs and run them at 1 ohm as stated above? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Alot of people have said that the orion 1200d is very capable of running at 1/2 ohm.
Even if that is true, which I do not know. You won't need even close to the power put out at 1/2 ohm. The Type R's are 300W RMS. Even if you ran them at 550 each, that is still only 1100 of the Orion's 1200 at 1 ohm. Just be safe and run them at one ohm, there is absolutely no reason to run them at 1/2.

The new 05 type r subs are 500 watts. Someone on this forum is supost to be running 1300 to one. Just wondering if 700 to 800 watts each will be ok. Need someone with hands on to give there opinion.

they alpine type r can handle the power 1 12 05version type r takes a viper2500.1 @ 1ohm for burps and did a 150.3. it'll handle the viper @2ohm all day, if ya easy on the volume. dont let it bump for long periods of time at high volume. for burps they'll take the power for daily i'd say an 1200d would be enuff for em. idk about running the orion at .5ohm daily. maybe imp rise would play or sumhtin. but i kno u betta keep the voltage up if ya gonna run it at .5ohm daily. its an tuff amp and it'll take the beating.

Well I will run two type r's, so each sub will get about 700 to 800 watts each. I do not plan on one 1200d on one type r. Just wondering it that many watts will be ok for daily on the subs.

yo dude if you wanna keep your subs for a while and not void the warranty stick around the 500w 700w range. im sure they will play over 1000w but not for long. i have two going to a memphis studio amp and they sound sick! ported down to 32hz , yes sir nice! but one thing is tru they r power hungry so more watts wouldnt kill it
