alpine type r subwoofers

CVRs are 75 each online.Type R's are like 120 each online.

SSA Dcon here! DCON-12 D4 only 125 each and will get just as loud if not louder than those CVRs and sound better.

P.S. its all in the box, you can compete with CVRs or type R's if you have them setup right.
******* this.

either way, we all recommend you to build your own box and it will be much better than having its own chamber imo. do what he said, take back the subs to best buy, go to the link he provided for you. i guarantee that you will be happier with those subs......BUT you HAVE to make the box right for them, DONT buy it from the shelves. it only takes around $35(depending where you live at) to get 3/4 thick MDF wood from home depot, some screws, titebond 2, and a hand drill(if you have one already).

I was never happy with the sq of my type -r. I tried it ported and sealed with 600 with rms feeding it. I mean it got loud and impressed most people, but personally i always wanted something else. It was ok, but I have heard better for the money. Besides why not get a sub built in the USA that is better quality and cheaper to boot.

its definitely not an SQ sub, no where near comparable in SQ to the TC epic and dayton youre looking at now. But its a nice budget sub that will get loud and not sound like crap.

oh well i went ahead and got the alpine type r subwoofers i then called audio express about th rms for them they said the max rms was 600 watts, and they said anywhere between 300-600 watts for rms power i will be at 450 watts rms will 450 still be enough to put out some good hard hitting bass and my current box is tuned at 37hz whatever that means also got another question what does xmax mean and is that important?

Oh, it did get loud. Just saying for the money you can get better, in both the loudness and sq .

450 will make them do pretty decent, much better in a custom box though. Most people will build u a custom box for around 150 or less.

Xmax is how far the sub will move in and out (excursion) moving more air, generally more air movement = louder, but not in all cases.

Since you don't know any better you should be happy with it.37hz is kinda high on the tuning for thet sub. Most tune it around 32-34 hz. It will be ok at 450w just not great. xmax is how far the sub will move and has nothing to do with the rms power rating. You got confused with what they said or they don;t know what they are talking about.

You have to be the most hard headed person that has ever trolled here.. Just because some shop built you a "custom box" to fit your truck does not mean it will work for every sub that fits in the hole.. Those type rs like power. power you dont have and I dont think you relize what it takes to run that much power. A toyota makes it even harder, you WILL have to upgrade your electrical to properly power those subs. Im pretty sure on the power you have and your current situation the CVRs will be louder. So have fun and write a new thread to ask why your Alpines dont hit and wont pick up any low notes.

true, had i known what i know now before buying the type R, The Dcon would have probably been my choice.or if comparing 600rms subs, the sundown SA subs will murder a type R
me too, i would have stayed far away from the big box brands if i knew now what i knew when i started messing around in car audio 18 years ago when i thought kicker was the best around.

amen on the toyota thing smmfh!

I told him with what he had, to stick with the CVRs.

Shops will tell u anything is custom to get your money, when i had my CVRs this store gave me the ran around for a week about how they were tuning my box and when i got there, it was a effin prefab.....that I let them keep and never went back to the shop again.
