I noticed my system wasnt pounding as hard as it used to, I thought my brother might of messed around with the settings in some way. I dont keep anything other than the subs in my trunk, so I never have many reasons to open it. Anyway, I looked at it this morning, and one of them is torn away from the black rubber part (about 25% of the circle). It still tries to work, but obviously is making a flapping noise. I bought these way back when they first came out, so they are like 3-4 years old (or something). Im just wondering, is this sub now garbage, or are things like this fixable? (or is fixing it only temporary and not worth it?). Thanks.

PS - Does this orgininate from overplaying them (which I go out of my way not to do), or can this happen from regular wear and tear since they are nearing 4 years old?

x2 just get some CA glue from your local hoby shop and glue that puppy back down.

As long as it is not making any noise after it is glued back down you are good to go.

I had the same exact thing happen to my set of 12"s and a friends Identical 15". Its just a problem with the model year. Do as the other suggested and use CA glue to glue the surround back to the sub. I did it and they're stronger than ever. You want to put pressure on the area your gluing so I put a hand on the backside of the cone and on the front side. I also did it in 6" strips around the circumfrence of it so I could take my time and do it right. Good Luck.

Alright I suppose I'll be taking them out of their box. Now, I've never actually hooked up the subs to whatever wires there are inside of it, since im such an amatuer, is it wise for me to try and do this myself? Anything I need to know? Also, how long should I let the glue sit before attempting to pound them again? 24hours? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you get the CA glue it bonds in under 4 seconds. The stuff is wicked fast. Try not to glue yourself to uh yourself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
