Alpine type r 8.

Now I have zero doubt the musical ability of this sub but dont expect to be hitting 130 +db rating like the sa-8. But I bettet that sub would be awesome for rock/techno. Miss my old type r in a sealed that was my very first sub

They JUST came out. barely anybody is running them but i had a dude tell me he would hook it up for $150/pair i believe.

hahaha WAY the **** off, anyways Id love to know. Still trying to find a good powerfull sub that can hit my techno/rock music hittin low thats in my price.

They look like a high quality speaker, IMO.
How can you even say that? It looks like the typical plastic cladded garbage that big name companies are spewing out these days. It also looks like it has no cooling other than some pinky finger sized holes in the basket all the way at the bottom. For about the same price, Id take an SA8 that has been proven to be well engineered.

I've seen the cut-away, talked to the engineer at length, and also heard them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

They are not up to the SA-8 in terms of SPL and abuse tolerance -- but IMO, they are a quality driver and sound quite good.

The cooling is going to be fairly high velocity behind the former then in turn out the frame vents due to the solid core of the driver as well. It will cool more efficiently than the other size Type-R drivers that feature a pole vent.

The newer Type-R drivers are not plastic clad at all -- the visible part of the driver is mostly a large 1-piece cast frame / shorting ring / heat-sink assembly.

PS: I'd be happy if you did choose the SA-8 ; just being unbiased as possible in discussing the competition //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
