ALPINE TYPE R 15" 2ohm DVC

Is the 15" 2 ohm dvc model any good.It is new for 2002 i was wondering if i shoud go with this sub for local spl comps.I will be powering it in 1 ohm at 1000 rms.I can pick one up for $350 canadian.

def go with the type r 15, my buddy has 2 of 'em in a ported wall in his car, running about 1500wrms to each one for comps, he is hitting 157.1db, let me know how alpine works for you

This is the scoop i can put 1000w rms at 1 ohm for compition and 600w rms for everyday enjoyment,does this sound ok for the 15"-500rms sub?
